Optomec's systems are used to repair, rework, and manufacture metal components.

Albuquerque, NM - Optomec is showcasing its LENS 3D metal printers at the 5th annual Laser Additive Manufacturing (LAM) Workshop in Houston. These systems are used to cost-effectively repair, rework, and manufacture high-performance metal components in materials such as titanium, stainless steel, and super-alloys. Recent imaging enhancements in the system enable faster process development and qualification for repair applications.

LENS metal printers use the energy from a high-power laser to build up structures one layer at a time directly from powdered metals. LENS 3D metal printers utilize an advanced thermal image capability that enables users to correlate critical processing parameters to resultant metallurgical properties, thereby speeding process development and qualification. The resulting fully functional material offers excellent mechanical properties, similar to forged components for many applications. These 3D metal printers are used throughout the entire product lifecycle for applications ranging from materials research to repair and rework to low volume manufacturing

Optomec is engaged in the emerging field of additive manufacturing. Its patented solutions are gaining traction in end markets ranging from consumer electronics, to energy and life sciences, to aerospace and defense. The company's patented Aerosol Jet® solution is used to produce 2D/3D printed electronics, reducing the size and cost of electronic systems by using nanomaterials to directly print fine feature circuitry, embedded components and miniaturized devices.
