Ophir Photonics' Beamtrack sensors measure laser power, position, size, centering, and wander in one device.

North Logan, UT - Ophir Photonics, a Newport Corp. brand, has announced the newest member of the BeamTrack family, the FL250A-BB-50-PPS. BeamTrack is a series of thermal detectors that combine multiple functions in one device: laser power, energy, beam position, and beam size. The sensors also provide information on beam centering and wander, all in a compact unit the size of a single function sensor of the same power level.

The first BeamTrack detectors, measuring 3 W, 10 W, 50 W, and 150 W, were introduced at LASER World of Photonics 2012. The new FL250A-BB-50-PPS model measures power, position, and size up to 250 W.

Sensors are available with a range of aperture sizes, from 12 mm to 50 mm. The broadband absorbers of the detectors can measure a spectral range from 150 nm to 20 microns.

The FL250A-BB-50-PPS measures laser power from 150 mW to 250 W, and energy from 80 mJ to 300 J. Beam position is accurate to 0.2 mm. A patented beam-size detector embedded in the sensor is accurate to +/-5% for a Gaussian beam.

All BeamTrack sensors feature a "Smart Connector" interface that operates with Ophir's StarLite, Nova II, and Vega smart displays, and Juno PC interface. The display is automatically configured and calibrated when plugged into one of the company's laser measurement heads.
