Photonics Industries to expand with new building and equipment
Hauppauge, NY - Photonics Industries International Inc. will be expanding its operations in Suffolk County, NY, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency (IDA), said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.
The company will be investing $6.3 million in a new building and manufacturing equipment and will be creating 40 new jobs that will bring over $2 million in new payroll dollars for the County.
"Photonics Industries has shown a clear commitment to keeping [its] operations based on Long Island," said Bellone. "Keeping [high]-tech industry in Suffolk County provides great opportunities for the growth of our innovation economy."
"The Town of Islip sees Photonics Industries as a valuable asset to our business community," said Islip Supervisor Tom Croci. "We are certain that the expansion of Photonics Industries will attract a new crop of bright and successful professionals to our area through the expansion of new high-tech jobs. We have made a commitment to fast tracking Town permitting and facilitating needs of companies like Photonics to support this County initiative while growing jobs and creating economic opportunity."
Photonics Industries International Inc., headquartered in Bohemia, NY, was founded in January 1993 out of Stony Brook University. Today, Photonics has grown to 70 employees in Suffolk and another 20 globally in Taiwan, China, Japan and Korea. Photonics Industries is a pioneer of intra-cavity solid-state harmonic lasers and provides various types of lasers to industrial and scientific customers.
Yusong Yin, CEO of Photonics, said that the company is confident about its future as it joins the Suffolk IDA and further establishes its "roots in the Suffolk County by continuing to hire from Suffolk's highly skilled workforce."
