Michigan laser marking firm expands

Nov. 11, 2013
Laser Marking Technologies has added 5000 sq. ft. of space and plan to hire at least five employees.

Caro, MI - At Laser Marking Technologies, construction of a 5000-square-foot addition is underway, with a groundbreaking ceremony held on Oct. 18.

Laser marking technologies, laser machining and laser measuring comprise The LMT Group, which develops laser marking, laser micromachining, and measuring machines for clients in automotive manufacturing, the aerospace industry, and medical manufacturing, among others. Its clients include 3M and Snap-on.

Company officials say the expansion will allow them to hire, and they are accepting applications.

Adam Wayne, co-owner with Sam Palmeter, said they plan to hire at least five full-time employees, including those in engineering, sales and production. The company has 13 full-time employees.

"(We're) just running out of room," Wayne said of the expansion. "Our sales have increased dramatically over the last couple years, and laser marking and laser machinery is a big and upcoming thing."

Wayne said increased sales are a reflection of an improving economy. “We've needed to expand for quite a while,” he said.

Wayne said he expects the project to be complete by the end of the year.
