3D metal-working machine

Jenoptik will show its Jenoptik VOTAN BIM machine for 3D metal-working at the trade fair Schweissen & Schneiden from Sept. 16-21.

Jena, Germany - The Lasers and Material Processing Division of Jenoptik will be presenting the Jenoptik VOTAN BIM machine for 3D metal-working at the trade fair Schweissen & Schneiden (welding and cutting) from September 16-21.

Jenoptik will show its robotic laser machine for 3D metal-cutting to the international community of experts and specialists attending the trade fair. The Jenoptik-VOTAN BIM provides industrial manufacturers with a highly flexible, fast-working, and cost effective laser machine solution that offers several advantages over standard laser machines.

The core element of the laser cutting machine Jenoptik-VOTAN BIM is the laser robot arm with the completely integrated laser beam. The laser coupling is located at the base of the robot so that the transport fiber does not move concurrently with the arm. This minimizes otherwise cost-intensive maintenance and replacement and also streamlines the system overall. The sleek, lightweight laser cutting head weighs in at only five (5) kilograms, which makes accessing the narrowest spaces easy. With a repetitive accuracy of ±100 micron, the Jenoptik laser machine is precise. The movements of the axis of the laser arm are reportedly between 30 to 60 percent faster than the current standards and enable significantly shorter cycle times when compared to conventional laser robots used in metal working.

The Jenoptik-VOTAN BIM is leveraged mostly in the automotive industry to process complex 3D body and construction components and three dimensionally formed tubes, i.e. for exhaust systems. Further possible applications are the 3D laser cutting of thin metal parts, as well as sophisticated cutting of profiles.

Jenoptik will be at booth C122 in Hall 6.
