Industrial femtosecond lasers for micromachining

Feb. 9, 2016
The Spirit HE high-energy industrial femtosecond lasers deliver pulse energies of >120µJ and average output powers of >16W.
Spectra-Physics (Santa Clara, CA) has debuted the Spirit HE high-energy industrial femtosecond lasers, which deliver pulse energies of >120µJ and average output powers of >16W. The lasers perform fast micromachining of a wide range of materials without unwanted heat damage to the processed part. They also offer process flexibility with programmable pulse energy, repetition rate, and pulse width in microelectronics, clean energy, medical devices, automotive, and other industrial manufacturing applications. Pulse energy and repetition rate are adjustable from single shot to 1MHz. Options are also available for adjustable pulse duration, allowing selection of pulse durations from <400 to 10ps by software in seconds, and integrated second harmonic generation (SHG) for software-selectable 520 or 1040nm output. The SHG option offers >60µJ at 520nm for high-precision applications and small geometries. An integrated pulse picker enables fast pulse selection and power control for high process throughput.
