Tool identification system

The TID tool identification system establishes an interface between tool presetters and a CNC machine tool.

The TID tool identification system from Elbo Controlli (Meda, Italy) establishes an interface between tool presetters (including the company's Sethy Six, Hathor Six, E46L, E46L TW, 68B and Amon Ra presetters) and a CNC machine tool. A graphical user interface enables operators to eliminate errors during data transfer. Traditional expensive storage media are replaced with a data matrix code that uniquely identifies a tool—the code can be applied to a tool with a laser marking system or a printed label. The system also allows configuration of the format and data mapping for tool identification, allowing full customization to manage different configurations as specified by a machine tool manufacturer.
