Industrial laser power meter

June 15, 2016
The Helios laser power meter is designed for measuring high-power lasers in industrial processing applications.

Ophir Photonics (North Logan, UT) has debuted its Helios laser power meter for measuring high-power lasers in industrial processing applications. The power meter measures high-power solid-state lasers such as diode, fiber, and Nd:YAG lasers with powers from 100W to 12kW and energies from 10J to 10kJ. It operates by measuring the power, energy, and exposure time of a short 0.1–10s exposure to the high-power laser and then calculating power. Keeping the pulse energy under 10kJ eliminates the need for water or fan cooling. Additional specifications include high damage threshold of over 6kW/cm2, 2s response time, and 10s wait between pulse measurements.
