The company has invested in the new ranges to meet packaging needs in the fresh produce market. The PermaClear anti-fog technology will be used for the new lines, and can be used to seal any tray type, as reported by Packaging Europe.
The new film is designed especially for the soft fruit market, offering extended shelf life for fruits such as strawberries and raspberries. The company claims that most of the soft fruit packers around the world use amorphous polyethylene terephthalate (APET) or recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET) trays for berries.
Rockwell claims that its Rocklid LT high-clarity peelable lidding film activates from 100°C, allowing sealing of thin RPET trays. It also claims the product avoids distortions without affecting the seal strength.
As reported in the publication, Rocklid LT is available on 12, 15, 18, 23 and 36µm polyester.
