Stencils and tooling provider Photo Stencil (Colorado Springs, CO) has sold its business in Guadalajara, Mexico, to the facility’s management team, Francisco Lujano and Armando Berumen. The company’s Mexico facility produces laser-cut stencils and will continue to sell both the laser-cut stencils they manufacture and electroform stencils that will be made by the company in its new Golden, CO, facility.
Eric Weismann, CEO of Photo Stencil, explains that current technology is being driven by more complex and densely packed boards, smaller devices, and more challenging applications. The company's laser direct imaging capabilities, Weismann says, can create extremely accurate stencils for solder-paste printing of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and for high-density interconnects, ball-grid arrays (BGAs), chip-scale packages (CSPs), and flex circuits.
Demand for the company's laser-cut stencils has increased significantly, Lujano says, adding that the Mexico plant has the latest laser cutting equipment with automated optical inspection.
