Schuler to provide two laser blanking lines to Daimler

June 23, 2015
Schuler AG has received an order for two laser blanking lines from Daimler AG for its Mercedes-Benz facility.

Springfield, IL – According to the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Schuler AG (Göppingen, Germany) has received an order for two laser blanking lines from Daimler AG for its Mercedes-Benz facility in Kuppenheim, Germany. The two lines cut blanks out of a moving sheet metal coil, which then are formed into car body parts in further steps.

Fiber lasers are used for the cutting process, eliminating the need for blanking dies. Product changes can be made almost without any setup time by loading the corresponding cutting program. Also, nesting can be optimized to save material.

Production launch is scheduled for fall 2016.
