Additive manufacturing systems maker Optomec has signed a distribution agreement with Viwa to represent the Optomec LENS family of 3D metal printers in Mexico and Central America.

Albuquerque, NM - Additive manufacturing systems maker Optomec has signed a distribution agreement with Viwa (Guadalajara, Mexico) to represent the Optomec LENS family of 3D metal printers in Mexico and Central America. Viwa has a broad range of experience in CNC machine tools, robots, and mechatronic systems.

The Optomec LENS family of turnkey 3D metal printers is used to cost-effectively repair, rework, and manufacture high-performance metal components in materials such as titanium, stainless steel, and super alloys. The company's LENS print engine can be integrated with other metal working machine tools.

Viwa began its history over 30 years ago and is the first company to build and market CNC machine tools in Mexico. Over the years, the company has continued to introduce advanced manufacturing solutions and has expanded its reach throughout Central America.

Dr. Roberto Jacobus, director general at Viwa, says that Optomec's LENS process can be adapted to Viwa's current line of CNC vertical machining centers to enable production of parts that involve printing metal and then machining the resulting parts on the same machine.
