Shanghai, China -JDSU has been awarded the 2015 Ringier Technology Innovation Award for its PicoBlade picosecond micromachining laser. The solution was chosen for its precision, speed ,and cold ablation processes that are required for manufacturing next-generation mobile devices, microelectronics, and displays.
During the selection process, an independent panel of experts assessed more than 50 companies' contributions to the laser industry in China. PicoBlade's micron-scale processing ability sets it apart in a market largely driven by global demand for mobile devices with micrometer-sized components. The laser is capable of processing almost any material using ultrashort-pulse techniques. As smartphones and tablets continue to proliferate across the world, the need for new laser solutions that provide high-quality, precise, and low-heat processes has increased.
The awards were presented at the Renaissance Pudong Hotel in China by Jung Limited, the Chinese division of Switzerland-based Ringier Media. Ringier publishes Industrial Laser Solutions China, in partnership with PennWell Corporation. The program is designed to encourage, acknowledge, and reward those who have introduced and developed a new idea, methodology, product, or technology for manufacturing production efficiency, cost-effectiveness, user convenience, energy efficiency, and corporate responsibility.
