October 27--LFI Inc. (formerly known as Laser Fare Inc.) has purchased a GSI Group 300P laser that will be fitted into a multi-axis workstation to enhance laser welding capabilities in both gas turbine and medical markets.
The company will take delivery of a five-axis DMG Gildemeister Power Drill 80 laser system later this year. Reportedly, this laser, with a Lasag FLS 652-2x306 500-watt laser, gives added capability and capacity for LFI's gas turbine customers. It is enhanced by ancillary equipment, including burnout furnaces, polymer injection equipment, air flow benches, and vision inspection systems to drill blades and vanes.
Additionally, the company has received its fifth consecutive SHARPS award from OSHA, which recognizes excellence in safety.
The company reports that it will continue to invest in new equipment and people in 2006 to respond to robust demand from both medical and gas turbine markets.
