BARNSLEY, SOUTH YORKSHIRE, ENGLAND — Laser cutting and engraving specialist Cutting Technologies teamed up with renowned artist Tom Hiscocks to produce several intricate laser-cut sculptures. Two console tables with male and female torsos were laser-cut by the company using Cor-Ten steel before being copper-plated.

Hiscocks' work featured Chinese Whisper, a female torso incorporating 28 layers of laser-cut metal. "These sculptures explore the layers of life and experiences which make us who we are," Hiscocks explains. "I hope that my work also reflects aspects of the world that we occupy, so I typically use utilitarian materials—often used in large-scale production and as such taken for granted. I've worked with Cutting Technologies for a few years now—they're technically sophisticated, provide a precise cut, and the finished product has always been exact."

"Our growing relationship with Tom showcases what can be done using materials such as Cor-Ten, steel, and acrylic, and intricate laser cutting," adds Jane Robinson, director and co-founder of Cutting Technologies. The company is able to cut and engrave in various materials, including wood, plastics, metal, and fabric.
