Stuttgart, Germany - Messe Stuttgart and its LASYS Advisory Board knew they had a potential winner on this new biennial trade show that premiers March 4-6, 2008 at the new Messe located adjacent to Stuttgart International Airport. Just 7 months away and this show is taking on a life of its own with international, contracted support from the Laser Institute of America, Society of Manufacturing Engineers - Industrial Laser Community, Association of Industrial Laser Users (UK), Italian Association of Laser Users, BW-I Baden Wurttemberg, and a group composed of the regions of Catalonia (Spain), Lombardi (Italy), and Rhône-Alp (France).

According to LASYS organizers more than 60 percent of the show floor space has been contracted for with major suppliers such as: TRUMPF, Jenoptik, High YAG, IPG Laser, Rofin Sinar, ERLAS, Precitec, Trotec, and the SME (with ten exhibitors) occupying key locations.

The 5th Stuttgart Laser Technology Forum (SLT 2008), to be held in conjunction with the show, will present the latest trends and best practice examples for the use of lasers in materials processing and methods for transferring technology to industrial production practice. This Forum has developed into an important conference for potential industrial laser users as exemplified by the more than 350 attendees last year. ILS encourages potential international users of industrial lasers to consider attending LASYS and SLT 2008; as we have written in these pages, a major portion of advanced laser materials for manufacturing applications is being developed in the European process development labs, so you owe it to your company to attend to stay ahead of your competitors planning to use lasers in their operations.
