Minneapolis, MN—Preco Industries (Lenexa, KS), a total solution supplier of industrial laser processing and equipment, has acquired Spectralytics Inc., a contract development and manufacturing company that provides high-tech laser applications and solutions primarily to the medical device and electronics industries.

Jack Pierson, Preco Industries and Spectralytics chairman, says, "We have acquired a well respected organization that will be headed by Gary Oberg, founder of Spectralytics, who will remain as president and CEO. Spectralytics is a particularly attractive resource for companies utilizing laser alternatives because of its wealth of laser processing knowledge gained... through the years. That know how is what distinguishes the new company from competitors who typically do not have job shop capability and experience. This is the crown jewel in the acquisition because that processing technology is what foreign manufacturers most envy about U.S. capabilities."
