Lapeer, MI—In another sign that the manufacturing economy has turned, Urgent Design & Manufacturing (www.urgent-design.com), a company offering hydroforming and associated tube bending, 3-axis and 5-axis laser cutting and welding along with other metal forming and processing services, will add approximately 50,000 square feet to its existing 48,000 square-foot plant here.
This expansion will allow for the addition of more and larger fabrication and forming equipment, such as presses and welding systems. It will also likely boost employment by 20 people and increase the output of the facility while growing the range of services provided.
Allan Peterson, vice-president of the parent firm, 3-Dimensional Services (Rochester Hills, MI), explains that the expansion increases Urgent Design's capabilities to fabricate and build entire vehicle frame assemblies. "Our customers' product designs and engineering processes are changing at a rapid pace to keep up with market demands and global competition. In response, our expansion in size and subsequent investment in manufacturing technologies is necessary, as a rapid prototyper, to meet these needs and the requirements of a growing customer base."
