Chicago, IL - Sitting in the Prima booth at Fabtech Int’l/AWS Welding Show (Nov. 12-16), our eyes were glued to the video screen. The demonstration of new technology incorporated in the company’s Syncrono machine was quite impressive, focusing on the creation of the “Virtuoso” demonstration piece. In a total cycle time of just 365 seconds, the machine executed in 1mm mild steel 2000 2mm holes, 494 slots/holes, 103 various shapes, 2 Prima Industrie logos, 2 Syncrono logo marks, 1 complete saw blade contour (650 mm), and 2702 pierings (see photo). The system-first shown at EMO 2005, Hannover, Germany, in September-will be available in North America shortly.

Syncrono reaches an effective acceleration, for example during cutting, of more than 6 g, producing more than 1000 holes per minute. An active anti-vibration system provides a constant beam path throughout the work area.

The company says Syncrono comprises two machines in one: one small and light with high dynamics and minimum moving masses, and one larger with a wide working area (3000 x 1500 mm). The two machines are coordinated by patented algorithms, for the most advantageous distribution of movements throughout the axes. This also minimizes electrical consumption.

The system is equipped with CP series lasers, which are manufactured by Prima North America-Convergent Lasers Division. Additionally, interchangeable optics facilitate changing material thickness.
