Orlando, FL—What a great idea: hold an international material processing conference in Australia in April and they will come. Especially with airfares the way they are now and will likely still be next year. The Laser Institute of America, along with a handful of local organizations, is putting together the 1st Pacific International Conference on Applications of Lasers and Optics.
The aim is to bring together researchers, engineers, equipment suppliers and industry personnel to hear the latest developments and progress in lasers and applications and to share their knowledge and experiences. All this in a great city, Melbourne, where the social life ensures that this conference will be a winner.
Now what are needed are world-class papers on applications, especially in micro-, nano- and ultrafast fabrication. Don't hesitate; abstracts are due September 1. So get with it and submit so that, if selected, you can experience a great country, populated by some of the world's nicest people. And there are some great restaurants to try local seafood and kangaroo if you are so inclined.
