NC State researchers have designed and demonstrated a tiny spectrometer that’s showing tremendous promise for a wide range of applications, from biomedical diagnostics to manufacturing.

In the business realm, a strategic collaboration in the works is poised to address the growing complexity and performance demands associated with photonic integrated circuits. And Chroma Technology has named the 2025 recipient of the annual Anne Heidenthal Prize for Fluorescence Research.

A team in Finland has developed technology that mimics real clouds, with the ability to dynamically tune their own color and temperature. They’re white plasmonic metasurface nanoclouds, and they could potentially boost military and climate applications.
