• Photonics Hot List: April 4, 2025

In this episode: Generative AI boosts biomedical diagnostics, the latest photonics business moves, and a greener option for quantum dot tuning.
    April 4, 2025

A team led by researchers in Germany has developed a new approach to biomedical imaging that achieves computational quantitative phase imaging in a new way, thanks to generative AI. It could offer a significant boost to image quality particularly in diagnostics applications. The research is detailed in Electrical Engineering and Systems Science.

PhotonDelta is joining forces with Silicon Catalyst in an effort to ultimately boost early-stage photonics startups. And EPIC’s annual general meeting held recently saw some new appointments and award winners.

A more environmentally sustainable alternative to tuning the optical properties of perovskite quantum dots is on the horizon. Developed by a team at North Carolina State University, the new approach could have major implications for use in a variety of optoelectronics applications.
