In this episode of Photonics Hot List...

Researchers in Australia say they could soon be able to predict a volcano’s behavior with a new analytical approach that offers clearer data than ever before about what’s happening at the chemical level in volcano magma.

A unique detection system is poised to enhance security surveillance with its ability to view and track moving objects from streaming video and photos down to individual pixels, unlike conventional methods that only track entire image frames.

A team in China is tackling the issue of surface water pollution with a new strategy that fuses UV-Vis and NIR spectra. This approach could soon enable quick and accurate detection of surface water quality in a more stable, robust way.
