Video: June 9, 2023 Photonics Hot List

June 9, 2023
Here’s your Photonics Hot List for June 9, 2023, covering an optical fiber that achieves unprecedented speed, a phototherapy device that improves sleep quality, and entanglement-enhanced sensors that hit record precision.

In this episode of Photonics Hot List...

The world’s fastest industry-standard optical fiber has arrived. Developed by an international team of researchers, the optical fiber achieves unprecedented speed that’s equivalent to more than 10 million high-speed home internet connections operating at full capacity.

A wearable phototherapy device created at the University of Arizona is already demonstrating important therapeutic benefits for those with sleep problems, including better-quality sleep and increased relaxation.

Researchers at the University of Michigan have discovered that exploiting quantum entanglement, a new phenomenon in the framework of quantum mechanics, significantly boosts the speed and sensitivity of optomechanical sensors.
