Niels Verellen

Niels Verellen is a scientific director at imec focusing on exploratory photonics. His main research activities are geared towards novel application enablers in the life sciences and quantum sensing domains, based on integrated photonics. He is also a research fellow at the KU Leuven Quantum solid-state physics group where he received his MSc (2007) and Ph.D. (2011) degrees in physics. He was awarded the Umicore Scientific Award in 2012 and received an ERC Starting Grant and ERC Proof of Concept Grant to develop an integrated photonics-based high-throughput microscopy platform.
