Heterogeneity of tumor tissue is highlighted by hot regions (red color) in a magnified image of the tumor. These hot spots correlate with increase in mitochondrial NADH, suggesting highly metabolic regions of the tumor. Uptake in excretion organs (liver and kidneys) is evident [10].
