Joyce Kilmer received his PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1984 from the University of Florida. He then joined Bell Communications Research in New Jersey in the optical fiber group. In the 1990s, Dr Kilmer worked as the exclusive North American agent for a European fiber-optic components manufacturer. In 2005, Dr Kilmer moved from fiber optics into lasers when he joined Photonics Industries as director of marketing.
