Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences

Raju Tomer PhD is Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences at Columbia University, where his focus is development and application of molecular, optical and data analytic methods for multi-scale understanding of complex biological systems. Before joining Columbia, Dr. Tomer spent 5 years at Stanford as a Staff Scientist and HHMI Research Specialist, completing a post-doctoral program in Karl Deisseroth's Lab where he was involved in the development of light-sheet microscopy systems designed for cleared tissue imaging. He earned his PhD at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), Europe's flagship laboratory for basic research in molecular biology, and his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biochemical engineering and biotechnology at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
