Instruments SA (Edison, NJ) has changed its name to Jobin Yvon/Horiba--or simply JY Inc.—to increase brand-name recognition. The company, which makes spectroscopic and other optoelectronic instruments, has over the years acquired corporations to use their brand names, including Jobin Yvon. In 1998, Instruments SA joined the Horiba group (Kyoto, Japan), a producer of instruments for science and industry. The European offices of Instruments SA will also share in the name change.
