The 60 mW ATTO green laser for mobile projection measures 6.8 × 12.4 × 3.8 mm and has wall-plug efficiency of 12–15%. The compact, alignment-free design is based on a Nd:YVO4/PPMgOLN microchip laser platform. Standard models are optimized for 60 or 120 Hz modulation rates for color-sequential operation with 33% duty cycle.

PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT
Nov 11, 2009
Spectralus Corporation announces an ultra-compact, high-efficiency green laser source aimed at mobile projection applications. The new 60mW ATTO green laser measures only 6.8×12.4×3.8 mm3 (about 1/3 cc in volume) and achieves high wall-plug efficiency of 12-15%. The compact, alignment-free design is made possible by Spectralus’ proprietary, low-cost Nd:YVO4/PPMgOLN microchip laser platform.
The ATTO laser targets mobile microdisplay applications, such as those based on LCOS and DLP panels. Therefore, it avoids known challenges (such as eye safety and high cost associated with MHz modulation platforms) faced by the laser scanning projectors. Furthermore, the perfect linear polarization and record-high wall-plug efficiency of ATTO enable very high efficiency in projection engines, approaching levels of 20 Lumens / Watt that are not achievable with existing light sources.
The ATTO lasers are available in a stand-alone version or integrated on a driver board powered by a cell phone battery or via USB. The standard models are optimized for 60 Hz or 120 Hz modulation rates for color-sequential operation with 33% duty cycle; however other frequencies (up to 5 kHz) and duty cycles are available upon request.
Spectralus will demo live ATTO lasers at the Embedded Technology Tradeshow (Japan) in November 2009 and at Photonics West in January 2010. First units will be available for shipment to customers in January 2010.
