PRESS RELEASE

Alfalight Extends 808 nm Laser Diode Lineup with Higher Brightness 3.5 W 6-pin Series

Also Announces New 879 nm and 793 nm Laser Diode Products with Wavelength Stabilization Technology for Higher Output without Compromising Industry’s Best Reliability

MADISON, WI– January 19, 2010 – Alfalight, Inc., a leading supplier of highly-efficient, high-power laser diodes, announced today the availability of the 808C laser diode series of 3.5 W, 808 nm devices in a 6-pin package with a 105 µm/0.15 NA output fiber. The new devices extend Alfalight’s 808 nm offering with a 40% increase in output power while maintaining an unrivaled lifetime of 20,000 hours. The series includes a 3 W version integrating Alfalight’s proven Wavelength Stabilization Technology (WST), which offers 0.07 nm/°C wavelength stability – a factor of five more stable over temperature than standard semiconductor lasers. WST eliminates the need for precise temperature control for solid-state laser pumping and other spectrum-sensitive applications. The company also announced additional new WST products at other increasingly important wavelengths, including a 30 W, 879 nm combined power module (CPM III) with 685 µm/0.22NA output fiber
connector; and a 5 W, 793 nm 6-pin laser with 200 µm/0.15NA fiber.

“Alfalight offers a significant increase in output power at 808 nm with no compromise on our proven reliability standards,” said Ron Bechtold, vice president, sales and marketing at Alfalight. “Across the board, we continue to support customer needs with the timely development and manufacture of cost-competitive, robust and high brightness diode laser systems that benefit fiber lasers, solid state lasers and direct diode applications.”
