Oclaro has launched a high-power tapered amplifier for atomic and precision spectroscopy under the New Focus brand. The tapered structure of the amplifier medium maintains low power densities even after amplification, avoiding damage to the semiconductor chip and still maintaining the high-quality transverse mode structure of the seed source. The TA-7600 series amplifier, capable of delivering in excess of 1 W output power, offers fiber-coupled input, allowing for extremely easy alignment, which also better protects the amplifier chip. It will initially be targeted toward the main atomic spectroscopy wavelengths: 767, 780, 795, and 852nm. Other wavelengths will follow and can be provided by request.
