Singapore--Zecotek Photonics, a developer of photonics technologies for medical, industrial, and scientific markets, announced the appointment of Jalil Ali to its Board of Directors. Ali will fill the role of independent director, advising on industry trends as well as providing additional industry expertise at the Board level.

Dr. Ali also has extensive experience leading technology innovation and he will play the role of an independent director, advising on industry trends as well as balancing our expertise at the Board level."
Ali received his PhD in plasma physics from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in 1990. At present, he is Professor of Photonics at the Institute of Advanced Photonics Science, Nanotechnology Research Alliance and the Physics Department, UTM. From 1987-2010, he has held numerous faculty and research positions including the Dean/Director, Bureau of Innovation and Consultancy, UTM. He was instrumental in establishing and forging university-industry collaborations in Malaysia. He has authored/coauthored more than 300 technical papers published in international journals, three books and a number of book chapters. His areas of interests are in photonics, optical solutions, fiber couplers, and nano waveguides. Dr. Jalil Ali is a member of OSA, SPIE, and the Malaysian Institute of Physics.
