San Jose, CA--Tetsuro (Terry) Higashi, chairman of Tokyo Electron Limited, has been named a director emeritus of the SEMI International Board of Directors. SEMI is the global industry association serving the manufacturing supply chains for the microelectronic, display, and photovoltaic industries. In this capacity, Higashi joins an elite group of industry veterans that have contributed to the development of the global industry association over an extended period of industry service. Higashi served as a SEMI board member for eleven years including a term as chairman of the SEMI Board in 2004-2005.
"For his extraordinary service to our industry and its global association, the International SEMI Board of Directors is proud to bestow the distinction of emeritus status upon Higashi-san," said Stanley T. Myers, president and CEO of SEMI. "His steadfast dedication over many years to SEMI and its worldwide membership places him among an elite group of industry visionaries in this important advisory role."
The SEMI Board of Directors is composed of executives from equipment and materials companies serving the global semiconductor, photovoltaic and related industries. The board governs the policies and activities of the association on behalf of its international membership. Directors may serve on the SEMI Board up to eight years as voting members and an additional three years as ex-officio members in accordance with the association bylaws.
Emeritus directors are nominated by the Executive Committee of the SEMI Board in recognition of outstanding achievements on behalf of the association and the industry. Included among the SEMI Emeritus Directors are distinguished industry luminaries Ed Braun, Joel Elftmann, Ken Levy, James Morgan, Ed Segal, Kenichi Sekiya, Shoichiro Yoshida and Arthur Zafiropoulo.
