In Günther's role—for which he has been appointed to a three-year term—he is responsible for accounting and controlling, treasury, taxes, risk management and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, and the strategic management of the real estate portfolio.
Günther previously held leadership positions in multinational companies such as CLAAS KGaA, served as CFO at global-listed companies (Metro, Infineon), and possesses international expertise in both industry and finance. Most recently, he was CFO during the restructuring of Arcandor AG.
With Günther's Executive Board appointment, the Board now comprises two full members—the other being chairman Michael Mertin. In September 2011 Mertin was appointed as chairman for a further five years, effective in July.
