Excelitas Technologies expands, automates laser irradiance detector production

April 17, 2012
Optoelectronics technology manufacturer Excelitas Technologies has completed significant manufacturing capacity expansion of its high-angular-resolution laser irradiance detector (HARLID), which is used in laser warning receiver systems for ground vehicles, naval vessels, fixed- or rotary-wing aircraft, and static perimeter facilities.

Waltham, MA, and Montreal, QC, Canada--Optoelectronics technology manufacturer Excelitas Technologies has completed significant manufacturing capacity expansion of its high-angular-resolution laser irradiance detector (HARLID), which is used in laser warning receiver systems for ground vehicles, naval vessels, fixed- or rotary-wing aircraft, and static perimeter facilities.

The company's HARLID capacity expansion answers to growing demand for protection against laser designation and ranging systems. The expansion includes fully automated robotic technology to boost volume production of HARLID, commensurate with increasing market demand and recent design wins incorporating it in new laser warning receiver systems.

An interactive demonstration of HARLID will be on display at the company's booth (#826) at SPIE Defense, Security + Sensing, to take place April 24–26 in Baltimore, MD.
