Washington, DC--Tom Hausken, formerly of Strategies Unlimited, has joined the OSA as senior advisor, engineering and applications. In his role, Hausken will support a number of OSAâs industry-focused activities, including the programs of the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA), a division of the OSA.
Elizabeth Rogan, OSA CEO, notes that Hausken's experience in the optoelectronics sector will help OSA increase its portfolio of programs for the engineering and applications communities. To be based in Mountain View, CA, Hausken brings than 30 years of experience spanning the research, government, and corporate sectors, and as a result will be a valuable asset to OSAâs expanding initiatives in these areas, she adds.
Hausken most recently served as the principal and director at Strategies Unlimited in Mountain View, where he led market research for a variety of optical and electronic components. Prior to this position, Hausken worked as a program manager for OIDA, a technology policy analyst at the U.S. Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, an optoelectronics researcher with Philips and Alcatel Alsthom Research, and a lab manager at Texas Instruments. Hausken received his M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his B.S. in electrical engineering from Montana State University.
