Morganville, NJ--Vytran, a supplier of optical fiber processing solutions, has hired William "Bill" J. De Costa as Director of Sales and Marketing. De Costa brings to Vytran over 20 years of marketing, sales, program management and product development experience in the photonics field.

"Bill De Costa’s impressive background with leading photonics companies will be invaluable to Vytran as we continue to grow and provide our customers with best-in-class technologies for optical fiber device development and manufacturing," said Jean-Michel Pelaprat, Vytran president and CEO (see VIDEO of Vytran at Photonics West 2010). "Bill understands the industry and the many challenges that fiber laser, fiber fused component, and high-reliability optical fiber assembly manufacturers currently face. We are pleased to have him lead our worldwide team."

De Costa has built global sales organizations and marketed photonic systems for both established and start-up companies. Prior to Vytran, De Costa was sales manager for AOFR, where he spearheaded a laser combiner product introduction for the fiber laser, biomedical, and light detection and ranging (LIDAR) markets. He has also been the director of sales and marketing for Sabeus and for Oluma, where he led marketing strategy development and sales penetration into the optical sensing and communication markets. De Costa spent 13 years at Coherent as a senior engineer and then a product line manager. In this role, he developed and implemented a successful worldwide strategy for laser beam metrology instruments and high-end chillers. De Costa holds a BS in manufacturing engineering from National University.

"I am thrilled to be able to leverage Vytran’s advanced fiber processing technologies to increase the capabilities of both research scientists in the lab and technicians on the production floor," said Bill De Costa. "I also intend to grow Vytran’s increased customer focus to continue to empower developers and manufacturers of optical fiber products."
