Peabody, MA--Global testing, inspection, and certification services firm TÜV SÜD America Inc. has appointed Ian Nicol to president and CEO for Americas operations, which includes TÜV SÜD Canada, TÜV SÜD América de México, and TÜV SÜD America do Brasil.
Nicol, originally from Motherwell, Scotland, has served in numerous senior management roles in certification, inspection, and testing industries worldwide. Following time in the UK as managing director of MTS Humberside, Nicol moved to the UAE in 1993 to successfully establish business in the Middle East thermal processing services provider Bodycote Materials Testing.
In 1997, Nicol was appointed President for Bodycote Materials Testing North America, relocating to Houston, TX. In 2007, he was appointed president and CEO of Bodycote Testing Inc. and helped guide the business through a successful sale process, with the business being sold to private equity at the end of 2008. In 2010, he joined SGS Industrial Services NAM as senior vice president before joining TÜV SÜD America as president and CEO this summer.
Nicol cites the global organization's sound reputation for quality and integrity and the region's expertise in testing, inspection, and certification as reasons that business will continue to show aggressive growth and increased market penetration in all key industrial segments served.
