The company is eligible for u¥to $1.45 million to develo¥the BioLaser, a blue-wavelength laser intended for use in office-based DNA diagnostics. According to Uniphase, the transition of DNA analysis tools from laboratory environments to the physician`s office can only occur when advanced blue solid-state laser technology becomes available to reduce the cost and size and increase the efficiency of these tools.
