Laser Power Corp. (San Diego, CA) received the first production purchase order for its miniature solid-state microlaser developed for certain medical applications. American Laser Corp., a subsidiary of Laser Corp. (Salt Lake City, UT), placed the initial $500,000 order for the Series MLM 532-nm, 2.5-W high-power, green-emitting microlasers, which it plans to use in the Nuvolase 660 medical-laser system for dermatology applications. The American Laser medical-laser system, incorporating the Laser Power microlaser, recently received US Food and Drug Administration approval for commercialization.
