NASHUA, NH-In response to growing interest in the increasingly global nature of the photonics market, the 2007 Lasers & Photonics Marketplace Seminar will feature a “World Markets Forum” as part of the day-long event. Hosted by Laser Focus World and Strategies Unlimited and sponsored exclusively by Newport Corporation, the seminar will take place January 22, 2007 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, CA, during Photonics West.

According to Stephen Anderson, editor-in-chief and associate publisher of Laser Focus World, in recent years attendees of the seminar have expressed interest in more specific information about each of the major world markets. This prompted the development of the world market forum, which will feature presentations by Michael Lebby of the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA; Washington, DC) and Henry Peng of GE Global Research in Shanghai, China. There will also be a presentation on the markets and opportunities coming out of the Photonics21 effort in Europe (see www.laserfocusworld.com/articles/257237).

The program for the 2007 seminar is now finalized and is up on the Laser Focus World website; for more information or to register, go to www.marketplaceseminar.com.
