NASHUA, NH - Last month, Laser Focus World (LFW) magazine launched its new Web site at www.laserfocusworld.com with a goal of-in the words of LFW publisher Christine Shaw-bridging the gap between print and digital media at a time when readers are transitioning to more digital information sources and expecting more immediate access to information. In addition to posting the latest industry and technology news alongside Webcast announcements and white papers, the LFW Web site includes a “Web Exclusives” section with content that you will not find in the printed pages of LFW magazine.
This Web-exclusive content is aimed at expanding the portfolio of technology-oriented feature articles and improving industry awareness through personal comment pieces and columns that address a particular photonics subject. For example, senior director of the OSA Foundation and Member & Education Services for the Optical Society of America (OSA; Washington, DC) Grace Klonoski has authored a monthly column since January on Science and Technology Education-Spotlight on inspiring the next generation of scientists & business leaders. The titles of her columns are straightforward indicators of the many education-related subjects that Klonoski’s column is tackling: “Science teachers must rise to the challenge of the future,” “Retired engineers work to enhance science education,” “Professional societies offer awards that encourage students,” “U.S. Chamber report gives schools a failing grade,” and “Traveling lecturers-a practical approach to global outreach.”
Laser Focus World encourages our readers to submit ideas for Web-only content to our chief editor Steve Anderson at [email protected].
