The V-731 XY nanopositioning stage from PI (Physik Instrumente; Auburn, MA), which has utility in biotechnology applications, is equipped with incremental linear encoders that provide 10 nm resolution for direct position measurement. Precision crossed roller bearings with anti-creep cage assist provide repeatability to 100 nm. The low-profile stage, which measures 310 × 310 × 80mm, also has uses in micro-assembly, precision laser machining, optics, lens testing, and photonics alignment.
