Light source for fluorescence microscopy by Excelitas Technologies

Nov. 7, 2017
The X-Cite FIRE light source for fluorescence microscopy offers broad spectrum output from 360 to 750 nm for exciting an extended range of fluorophores.

The X-Cite FIRE light source for fluorescence microscopy from Excelitas Technologies (Waltham, MA) offers broad spectrum output from 360 to 750 nm for exciting an extended range of fluorophores. With a 365 nm spectral peak, the light source matches with the narrow DAPI filter sets that are standard in research microscopes. It also provides 735 nm excitation for Cy7, and high power in the 500–600 nm range for TRITC and mCherry. Designed for use with liquid light guides, the light source is compatible with modern light-guide-only microscope designs and can also be combined with the company's microscope adapters to replace traditional lamp houses.
