Biocompatible, sub-nanometer particles suitable for labeling and imaging cell features
April 21, 2009
APRIL 21, 2009--Sub-nanometer gold nanoclusters--and significantly smaller than other nanoscale imaging technologies such as semiconducting quantum dots, and biocompatible to boot--are the latest innovation to come out of Singapore's Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN). The IBN researchers responsible say the highly fluorescent clusters have broad implications for biolabeling, sub-cellular imaging, and disease diagnosis.
