A 13 Mpixel microscope camera from The Imaging Source (Bremen, Germany) is based on Sony Exmor CMOS technology, and can be mounted on a microscope's ocular or C-mount. The camera, which is equipped with a distortion-free 5.3 mm (35 mm equivalent) auto-focus lens, allows capture of what is seen through the ocular rather than just a region of interest. A USB 3.0 interface enables a full HD (1920 × 1080) preview at 30 frames/s on the host PC.
