NOVEMBER 3, 2008 -- The Optical Society's (OSA) Interactive Science Publishing (ISP) initiative provides software for interactively viewing underlying source data and enabling researchers, scientists and engineers to objectively compare the performance of different technologies.
The new offering allows authors to submit manuscripts that include large three-dimensional data sets related to medical images, created in research involving pollution monitoring, and so on. It allows scientists to expand upon traditional research results and gives a way to evaluate such results more thoroughly.
The OSA launched the ISP initiative in partnership with the National Library of Medicine, part of the National Institutes of Health, and with the support of the United States Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
