Biomagnetics Diagnostics Corp. (Orangevale, CA) has accepted delivery of an integrated optical biosensor for disease diagnosis, including HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis, cholera and malaria detection. The biosensor was developed in tandem with scientists and engineers at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The new optical biosensor device "holds the promise to allow relatively untrained medical personnel to diagnose a variety of diseases in a matter of only a few minutes," says Clayton Hardman, CEO of Biomagnetics Diagnostics. Plans to reengineer the technology into a format that can be utilized for clinical trials and commercialization later this year are currently underway, he says.
