UK ophthalmic center demos 3D visualization technology during laser cataract surgery
TrueVision 3D Surgical (Santa Barbara, CA) collaborated with eye surgeon Sheraz M. Daya, MD, FACP, FACS, FRCS(Ed), FRCOphth, founder of the Centre for Sight (East Grinstead, England), to deliver a live educational event featuring multiple advanced technologies. Over the course of the day-long event, Daya performed four laser cataract procedures while the live 3D surgical view was streamed to the audience of visiting surgeons for an enhanced understanding of the angles and tissue depth involved in this newest form of cataract surgery.

TrueVision's digital 3D visualization and guidance system enables surgeons to record surgery in 3D and to stream live video of the surgical field. The company is focused on developing a suite of 3D guidance applications for microsurgery to improve surgical efficiencies and patient outcomes.
Daya and several expert colleagues from the UK and Europe provided the audience with clinical and technical updates on the latest methods used during laser cataract surgery, as well as an open discussion about the incorporation of new technology into clinical practice. Surgical techniques, patient communication, staff education, and medical economics in todayâs economy were all discussed as part of the program designed to provide eye surgeons with a peer-to-peer forum for advanced cataract surgery.
